From the economic standpoint, the government has done a lot to make Kenya a destination of choice, and they massively invest in protecting and conserving the natural heritage of the country.

The safety of visitors is also a priority for the Kenyan government and they have established a special unit within the local police dedicated solely to security and well-being of tourists. Kenya remains an expensive destination but is largely compensated by the scenery and the fascination it generates.

Nairobi, the capital is the starting point of the Kenyan adventure. This vibrant and cosmopolitan city never seems to sleep. The city offers a wide selection of restaurants offering the best cuisine in the world and in a variety of entertainments including nightclubs which often host famous musical stars on the continent. Countless shops and colorful stalls enliven the downtown and await the visit of tourists.

However, it is advisable to be cautious in popular places and not to stray too far from public places to avoid any risk of abuse or robberies that tarnishes the reputation of a little town. Nairobi is also home to a beautiful National Museum of History and the home of Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa open to the public.

But the most surprising is the speed at which the visitor passes from life to urban wildlife. Indeed, only 20 minutes separating the center of the national park inhabited by lions, buffalo, crocodiles, zebras, giraffes, rhinos and more. A little further, you can admire the Thika falls, great for beautiful shots and movies or go rafting in the waters of the River Tana.

Experience Wildlife:

The diversity of fauna and flora of Kenya is known worldwide. The thirty reserves and national parks which are scattered across the country offer different ways to discover the wildlife. Whether by 4x4 vehicle, minibus, on foot, horseback or even hot air balloon is an unforgettable experience that the visitor is ready to begin.

The most famous Reserve is the Masai Mara, named after the tribe that lives within the plains of 320km square, the woods and the wetlands where you can admire varieties of creatures such as lions, elephants, zebras, hippos and an abundance of birds. Each year, around July, the Masai Mara is witnessing the migration of spectacular wildebeest which are coming to seek a little refreshment, and at the same time to restore the ecosystem balance by providing enough food for the huge predatory reserve.

The Masai Mara offers a wide choice of accommodation for all budgets, whether you want to see a fawn from the terrace of a luxury lodge or a tent in the bush. Amboseli reserve another much visited, is an expanse of desert plain where it crosses the behemoths such as elephants or buffaloes. But most impressive is the mastodons Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa that can be admired from afar with its top covered with snow. Climbing, walking with a guide, camel safaris are a few of the activities offered by tour operators for this region. These are just two examples of safaris offered here, but the choice is wide and the proposed formulas can also be tailored according to the visitors' requirements.

Mombasa and the coast:

Mombasa, is the main port of Kenya. There has a rich Arab architecture, a legacy of colonialism for many years and seems, while in continuous activity, to live at his own pace. It would be interesting to make a brief foray into the history and culture of the region by visiting the Jesus Fort, a symbol of the dominance of the Portuguese on Mombasa at a certain period. Today Jesus Fort welcomes visitors with sound and light shows, followed by a candlelight dinner and even a stroll at sunset in the port of Mombasa.

The south coast of Mombasa is a beach of white sand bordered by a lush rain forest, and is also home to many species of birds, baboons and even leopards. Small coastal villages dot the coast and inland. This little corner of paradise is ideal to decompress and to spend a peaceful holiday. Nyali Kikambala or Vipingo are few beaches north of Mombasa. One can find a large selection of luxury hotels with the benefits typically provided by such facilities, such as fishing, excursions to nearby islands, water sports, plus a kitchen and quality service. The coral reef, which in turn serves as a shelter for numerous marine species, offers vacationers the opportunity to admire the seabed by making scuba diving.

Lamu Island:

Small Island of Lamu was settled in the fourteenth century by the Swahili and has not really changed since that time. Vehicles are nonexistent and traveling on the island is by the means of donkeys. At Lamu life seems to idle and time between ballads strung through the narrow streets that are a feature of the island and relaxing on the beach. It is a haven of peace plus the friendliness of the local. Lamu is a charming city where you can come back with a different mindset. It is served by regular flights from Nairobi or Mombasa, as well as by private planes.
